21st Century Grant Update/After-school Program

The AfterSchool Program begins its last session of the school year on Monday, April 24!

The AfterSchool Program finished Session Four on April 6 for a two-week break (which included the Spring Vacation) and will start Session Five on Monday, April 24. The schedule for Session Five is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 2:15-5 p.m. The afternoon includes snack, Homework Club, and Activities. Session Five will run for six weeks starting Monday, April 24 to Thursday, June 1, EXCEPT for Thursday, May 25 because of the In-Service Day on Friday, May 26, and Monday, May 29, because of Memorial Day.

The Session Five sign up sheet needs to be submitted before your son or daughter can attend. Plus, if this is the first time he or she has signed up, we also need emergency contact and release forms filled out. (All forms are now available for download on the website.)

Bus News

We are sorry to announce that we will not have a Mt. Holly bus driver for the remainder of the year. We will continue to drop Mt. Holly students off at Harry’s Restaurant in Mt. Holly at 5:15 each day the program is in session. In a year of fun and achievement, this has been the one area that we have not been able to work out. It has been difficult to find someone with a CDL license who is willing to work for only 5 hours a week (Mon-Thurs, 5-6:15 p.m.) If anyone is interested in doing this for the fall, and would like more information, please contact PJ Pollard, our Mt. Holly site coordinator at pjpollard@tds.net or 259-2392.

It is the place for the latest news and announcements, schedules, activity descriptions, downloadable sign-up forms, plus a place to sign up for email announcements about the AfterSchool program, i.e., cancellations, changes. Looking Ahead

The AfterSchool Program year comes to an end on Thursday, June 1. We have had four fun and successful sessions so far, with the 5th one being our most exciting so far with activities such as swimming, ice cream making, pizza making, and fleece crafts being available. Now we start planning for next year as we do our Federal Reporting for the 21st CCLC grant, and explore other funding opportunities so that we can continue expanding the program into Ludlow and Mt. Holly Elementary Schools. We now have an Advisory Committee to help with the planning and expansion.
